Hustlin’ While at Home: 6 Ways to Do It

As a mother, you have multiple responsibilities and expenses to take care of. Some of these expenditures include rent or mortgage payments, monthly bills, taxes, school expenses, food and utilities, healthcare, and savings. It is important to have a backup plan in place to help leverage your expenses with your long-term goals.

Below are six side hustles and opportunities that you can try even while staying within the comforts of your humble abode:

1. Sell Online

Admit it or not, you’ve probably tried purchasing a product or browsing through a shop online.

The advantage to selling online is that the ideas for the products you choose to market are endless. You can sign up and become a reseller for a makeup or lifestyle brand.

Reselling is a great choice if you do not have the time to create products to sell from scratch. The manufacturer or supplier of the products will provide what you need. You don’t have to worry about product labeling, branding, or inventories. You also have the liberty to name your prices for the items so that it suits your target profit.

Alternatively, you can produce your products especially if you possess skills and talents that you think would be useful in establishing a business and target a specific niche.

Among the most popular homemade products that can be bought online right now are baked goods, accessories, cosmetics, soaps, home decors, customized apparel, and face masks.

Some artists auction their artwork online. Focus on the skills that you have and take time to research your target market. It is advisable to check grants for small businesses available in your area in case you need financial assistance to open your business.

2. Be a Social Media Influencer

Over the past three years, there has been a significant development in the different types of content accessible through social networking platforms.

Compared to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, video sharing apps are arguably faster at generating followers and engagement since it is more interactive. You can produce videos that are focused on reviewing beauty and household products or restaurants and food trends.

Other content ideas you can try are testing and demonstrating DIY hacks related to home management, sharing about your day-to-day life, producing entertaining skits, or showcasing your talent.

Try to be consistent in posting content.

Choose a platform that you are most comfortable using. Invest in high-quality equipment so that your videos and photos are of HD quality.

It might take time for you to explore and figure out which type of content suits your channel best, but what is essential is that you stick to your values, your brand, and ask for feedback from your viewers on what videos to create in the future.

3. Share Your Skills

Do you love imparting knowledge to other people?

How about sharing tutorials about a specific skill or field that you are passionate about?

Skill-sharing banks on the current setup wherein people sought the internet to enrich their background and develop new skills.

Online courses range from teaching seniors and students how to be more tech-savvy with social networking and communication platforms like Gmail app, Facebook, and LinkedIn to training hard skills designed for career advancements, such as digital marketing, programming, and entrepreneurship.

Instead of attending a physical class, participating in a virtual seminar or presentation is more practical, convenient, and aligned with modern-day demands. Some skill-sharing platforms to explore include Coursera, Skillshare, Clascity, and Kool Stories.

4. Start a Career as a Virtual Assistant

Virtual assistant services are currently on-demand.

Given that businesses worldwide have drastically shifted to a remote work setup, they were left with no choice but to stabilize their workforce by hiring a virtual team. One of the advantages of working as a virtual assistant is there are a plethora of job roles available.

The choices range from specialized fields such as Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Management, Content Creation, Web Design and Development, to people-centered expertise like Customer Support, Tech Support, Operations Management, and Accounts Supervision.

For moms who want a home-based job that is not as demanding and technical, administrative VAs could be a better fit for you. There are business owners who hire executive assistants, data entry staff, and eCommerce assistants.

These roles consist of routine, entry-level tasks designed to keep things organized and in place.

5. Sign Up to Test Products

Get paid trying out new products from big brands!

Businesses hire product testers to seek genuine, first-hand feedback from consumers. They want to gauge whether they have successfully met their objectives for developing the product as well as learn how they can improve it further to meet customer expectations.

Product testers are compensated either through cash, free merchandise or giveaways, or gift checks. You are lucky enough if your employer gives all three as payment.

6. Plan Events

Moms are known to always be at the top of their game.

Whether it involves organizing a schedule, budgeting, or coordinating a mini get-together with relatives and friends, keeping things in order is second nature to these superwomen. As such, planning small to large events is an excellent avenue to apply your organizational skills and unleash your creative side.

Bring Home the Bacon

Choosing a home-based job or business venture should be based on your interests and lifestyle. Depending on your availability, you can use the suggestions in this blog as a stepping stone to advance your career or find a way to earn extra income. Best of luck, mommies!
