Like many things, there are definitely advantages and disadvantage is to starting a business. Let’s go over some so you have the full picture.

As far as the drawbacks, starting a business is a huge time commitment. You’re gonna have to try to find time to work on the business whether it be before work, weekends or evenings into the night.
When I started my first biz that became so profitable I was able to quit my day job, I was working up to 75 hours per week between my day job and the business.
My day would start at 5 AM and my day would end at 2 AM.
I was also a new mom and nursing a baby while juggling a full-time job and a business. But it definitely paid off and around a year into it I was able to leave my dreaded job behind.

What exactly is a pandemic proof business? Well it’s a business that can whether a pandemic. If you think about how things are now, there are certain industries that have died and other industries that have flourished like medical, technology, Internet tech and others.
So the whole idea of a pandemic proof business is to find a business that can really survive in the worst economic conditions. This is a great business to have because it means that it’ll likely be long lasting and can survive where other industries me nice.
And the best thing is that these business ideas require no money for start up, which is totally huge.
If you don’t know, it takes a lot of money to launch a business in many cases but these seven pandemic proof businesses require no money to start. Without further do you let’s dive into them.
1. Social Influencer
With so many people at home, a lot of them are turning to social media for entertainment.
Not only that but it’s a way to connect with your loved ones when you can’t have face-to-face contact.
So you have apps like House Party that are booming, you have Tik Tok which is growing faster than ever and other social networks that are going strong. You can take advantage of this and make money in a social influencer business.
Social influencers influence the public.
If you remember back in the day, a lot of celebrities and recording artists had a lot of strong influence on the public and they still do but, the rise of the social influencer is definitely here. That means ordinary people can pop onto Instagram, cultivate an audience and make money doing it.
People are finding mentors and folks they look up to from ordinary people, not necessarily celebrities like in the past.
Most of the big social networks are totally free to join and you don’t need to invest in any pay tools or resources to get your social influence business off the ground. Here’s how you do it:
First, you’re going to create a brand for yourself.
Branding yourself is about making yourself a company so it’s kind of like turning a woman into a brand like Guess, for example. You will have a logo and a website most likely, you’ll have brand colors and you may also have products and services that you offer. So it’s creating a company with yourself as the face.
Join one core social media network whether it be a Instagram, Twitter or other social network. Create content that’s engaging, interact with your fans and above all, post often and post insistently.
You’ll start to notice that your social fanbase will grow and that should give you even more courage to continue posting and growing your social brand.
Putting it Into Practice
At the start of the year, so in January 2020 I started a YouTube channel which is now a brand. My goal of creating a channel was to create an additional stream of income and about 4 to 5 months into it I was able to accomplish that.
Now, seven months into the year I’ve been able to grow my following to 200,000 and make an extra $1000 per month!
Keep in mind, growth like this is not typical and my channel is not able to be monetized so my income potential is limited but even so, I still make a nice stream of income on the side, less than a year into the project and as time goes on I expect that income to grow even more.
I have seen brand new influencers grow their fanbase to over 1 million on networks like Tik Tok and they’re now making up to five figures per month from sponsorships and affiliate marketing.
This is also not typical but can it happen? Yes, definitely.
I just wanted to share these success stories to let you know that becoming a social influencer does not have to necessarily be a long road and success is measured with more than just money.
Get the leg up by learning from your competitors…other influencers on IG in your niche.
If you want to look into spying on your competitors on Instagram, you’ll wanna review this resource, which gives you valuable Instagram insight.
2. Internet Entrepreneur
This could mean a lot of things but basically you have an online business selling products and/or services and you’re operating on the Internet. You could have an e-commerce store selling goods to the general public or you can be an expert selling your consulting or coaching services.
There are a lot of directions that you can take this but the main takeaways are you operate online.
Industries that are pandemic proof include health, beauty and skin care. Also services are really good like white collar and blue collar services. If you think about it, people still need their AC and refrigerators repaired. They still need to get oil changes. They still need to have their lawn mowed and maintained, pay taxes, do their bookkeeping and more.
How I became a social media manager?
I used the skills and knowledge I developed while running my online store to help others grow their social platform.
Blogging or any kind of digital publishing does well all the time, pandemic or not.
It’s relatively easy to start blogging and if you join Medium, you can start blogging for money.
Here are some of my stats…
I just started writing seriously about a month ago and although I’m earning peanuts, my income will snowball over time and I can write what I want, when I want and get paid. I’m part of the Medium partnership program and I get paid for the views my articles receive!
You can also create your own self-published blog with a hosting platform. This option is not free but still pretty affordable, at around $3/month with my favorite host (I use them for this blog, by the way).
Your own blog affords you the opportunity to make money with ads like Medium and also sponsorships, affiliate marketing, and your own products. My first blog I created back in 2016 earned me $20,000 in my first year!
If you’re already blogging or you’ll start a blog and want to turn your blog into a profit making machine, I recommend this training to earn more blogging.
One of the reasons I love this course is because it comes from a true pro at blogging, building his income from $0 to $400,000 per year after expenses. He got to live his dream of working from home and travel 1/4 of the year! It’s great for née bloggers who want to start blogging the right way from the start.
Have I convinced you to try blogging?
It’s truly changed my life and it can be a lucrative hobby you do that can really inspire and transform your life.
I have been doing flipping off and on for years now.
I flip websites, stuff around the house like toys, clothes, etc.
You can sell in places like:
- Offer Up
- And, other places!
How to get started flipping?
Start easy and go around your house collecting things you can sell. Outgrown clothes, kids toys your little ones don’t use any more, even pet supplies, office supplies, linens, home goods and much more.
Sell online or in person. In person you can sell in garage sales, flea markets, thrift shops, consignment shops and other places.
You can make this into a real business and it’s totally pandemic proof!
If you are a good writer, you can make money freelance writing. Copywriters get paid to write for others. Their clients can include bloggers, magazines, small businesses, ecommerce stores, local businesses, etc.
You can make money per word so, if you charge $.05/word starting out and write 30,000 words this month, that means you can make $1,500.
It’s a lot easier to find clients than you might think. People are scouring the web looking to hire writers. Check out job banks like Indeed or writing sites like Media Bistro or Pro Blogger Jobs.
You can also find gigs for writing on LinkedIn, Facebook groups, and other places.
This one is great for full-time income potential. You should be able to work well independently, be an excellent communicator and follow instructions well.
6. Ecommerce Store
Any kind of online store should be able to survive in a pandemic. Though, others do better than others, depending on their field.
Industries that do exceptionally well include:
- Replenishables (products you need to buy over and over)
First, start a Shopify store.
You can build it in about an hour, including a free theme for their Theme store.
Then, load your store with products. If you’re dropshipping, you can source from Ebay, department stores like Sears or Macy’s, other online stores, or marketplaces like Amazon or Aliexpress.
As orders come in, you can fulfill (after receiving the money from customers) and this makes dropshipping with ecommerce a great pandemic proof business to start for free! Shopify does cost money but they have an awesome 14-day trial you can use to get off the ground. Then, as you’re making money, take your profit and use it to pay for the Shopify monthly plan after your trial is over.
I used Shopify to grow my ecommerce business to $30,000 per month. It helped me make money every month and afforded me the opportunity to quit my day job. My life changed forever with that business.
Ecommerce works and it’s one of the 9 smart ways to make $1,000+ from home.
7. Knowledge Sharing
This next one will not earn you a full-time income but it’s a great source of additional income. So if your hours are cut back at work or if you’re looking for a little more money to pad your wallet, look into knowledge sharing, aka survey taking.
You get paid to share your opinion.
Join a survey company for free. Take surveys. Earn cash and rewards. Get paid.
I’ve been doing this off and on for years.
My favorite survey companies to check out:
For high-paying surveys (up to $400 per survey) check out Respondent (I have used them myself, too).
